Research Summary
- Ethnobotanical survey of the traditional edible and medicinal plants from the trans-Himalayan region of Ladakh.
- Conservation, molecular and phytochemical characterization and optimization of dormancy breaking treatments in medicinally important plants from the trans- Himalayan region of Ladakh using molecular biology, stress physiology and biotechnological tools like plant tissue culture technique, PCR technique etc. for nutritional security and pharmacological importance.
- Isolation and characterization of agriculturally important plant growth promoting heavy metal-resistant bacteria for growth and yield of agricultural crops.
- Inventive and sustainable vegetable research using various agronomical practices like greenhouse technology etc. to meet the nutritional requisites and socio-economic upliftment of the tribal’s in the Indian cold arid desert of Ladakh.
- Scouting, documentation, value additions, protection through IPR and social diffusion of outstanding traditional knowledge and grassroot innovations from different states of the India.
- Management of Intellectual Property Rights and related work such as prior art search (PAS), patent applications drafting and filing to IPO.
- Conduction of training to army personnel, local farmers and students about standardization of cultivation practice of different agricultural crops, establishment of different green houses and conservation of high altitude medicinal plants.
- Conduction of awareness workshops/programmes relevant to IPR for scientists, academicians, grassroot innovators, traditional knowledge holders and farmers.
