Research Interests

My research focuses on the generation of large-scale genomic data on some of the underutilized legumes like winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus), tree bean (Parkia timoriana), sword bean (Canavalia sp.) and velvet bean (Mucuna sp.) for their improvement, mainstreaming and domestication.
The synthesis of specific biomolecules and understanding the regulatory pathways in certain legumes through various genomic and metabolomic approaches is one of the thrust areas of my research.

Research Summary

Generation of large-scale genomic data

Exploring and acquiring the genomic (draft genome, transcriptome) data of the underutilized legumes like winged bean, tree bean, sword bean and velvet bean and their submission in the  public domain database.

Discovery, validation and association of molecular markers

Identifying and estimating the biosynthesis of specific biomolecules in the underutilized legumes and associating them with the generated genomic data.

Selection, improvement for domestication

Selection of specific ideotypes of the underutilized legume on the basis of molecular and biochemical attributes for release and domestication to provide nutrition security and mainstream the underutilized plants to utilization.
